This product contains Retinols which should be avoided prior to sun exposure. Retinols reveal fresh, new skin which is more susceptible to UV damage. Always wear sunscreen for protection from both UVA and UVB rays and reapply every 2 hours

IMPORTANT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS, please read: 
If you are new to using Retinol please follow the instructions below for the best results. 
Our 1% solution is strong. Please abide by the folliwng routine: 
First Week of Use:  After you have cleansed and toned your face gently apply a half a pump size of the retinol serum 1x a week, at night,  for the first week
Second Week: If skin is responding well begin applying 2x/week, spacing a day between applications
Third Week: If skin is still responding well begin applying 3x/week, spacing a day between each application 
Fourth Week and Fifth Weeks: If you are not having any negative reactions begin applying 4x/week, skipping a day between each application
Sixth Week: If your skin is still responding well you can begin applying a hole pump, every night of the week OR every other night, giving your skin a chance to rest
If duing this routine your skin begins to respond negatively STOP your application and give your skin a rest for 3-4 days. After that, begin once again the slow process of application. Let your skin tell you how to proceed. 
Remember that it is natural if your skin begins to dry out a bit when you are just starting a retinol nightly routine. Don't give up, remember that your skin will begin to adjust to the retinol over time and the dryness will go away. In the meantime be sure to use a good moisturizer along with skin loving natural oils that will help lock in the moisturizer, both night and day. 
 
Apply only a half a pump or one pump size of serum in the PM  after you cleanse & tone your face. You can layer serums but be sure to put water based serums on before any oil based serums and/or products. After application be sure to apply a heavier moisturizer as Retinol can cause skin to dry out, especially if you just starting your treatment. 
 
Only use retinol products during your night skincare regime and always apply sunscreen during the day as retinol will make your skin more sensitive to the effects of the sun.  
*please note that if you are using a retinol product in the evening DO NOT apply our Retexturizing Moisturizer on the same evening as it has AHA's. Alternate nights with the retinol serum and a different nighttime moistuizer like our Restorative Facial Cream, and on the nights off of the retinol serum you are welcome to use the Retextruizing Moisturizer as your nighttime moisturizer.
It is okay to use the Retexturizing Moisturizer during the day, as your day time moisturizer, even if it is on an evening you are applying a retinol product.
